It depends entirely on what you draw. It covers basic UML, flowcharts, SysML and ERD, but ArchiMate, BPMN, XMI import and export, code engineering and requirements management are in paid editions, and exported images carry a watermark. If any of those matter, the free edition is a trial rather than a tier.

Does Archyno replace Visual Paradigm?

Not for a team using its code engineering, SysML or requirements features - nothing in Archyno does those. It replaces it for the case where somebody bought a modelling suite to draw correct UML and ArchiMate and is using perhaps a tenth of it.

What Visual Paradigm does better

Breadth: SysML, CMMN, SoaML, DFD and database design are all in scope, and Archyno covers none of them.
Code engineering - generation and reverse engineering across ten or more languages, including Java round-trip - which Archyno does not do at all.
Requirements and user-story management inside the same tool as the models.

The difference that matters

The two are aimed at different weights of work. Visual Paradigm is a suite you install and configure for a team that models as a discipline; Archyno is a browser tool for people whose job is mostly something else and who owe somebody a correct diagram. The practical dividing line is the free edition: Visual Paradigm's Community Edition puts a watermark on exported images and excludes ArchiMate, BPMN, XMI import and export, code engineering and requirements management, which are in the paid editions. Archyno's free tier carries no watermark and no notation is behind the paywall.

Choose Visual Paradigm when

You need code engineering, SysML, requirements management or database design, and a desktop suite is acceptable. Archyno does not compete on any of those.
